Maybe this is just me, because my priorities have changed as I’ve gotten older. But now I don’t want to be ‘sort of dating’ someone. I don’t want to be ‘kinda hanging out’ with someone. I don’t want to spend a lot of energy suppressing all my feelings so I appear uninvolved. I want to be involved. I want to be sleeping with someone I know I’ll see again because they’ve already demonstrated to me that they’re trustworthy and honorable—and into me.

Let’s start with this statistic: You are delicious. Be brave, my sweet. I know you can get lonely. I know you can crave companionship and sex and love so badly that it physically hurts. But I truly believe that the only way you can find out that there’s something better out there is to first believe there’s something better out there. What other choice is there?

I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone. It’s not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel all alone.

We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, “O me! O life!… of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless… of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?” Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play *goes on* and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?
Robin Williams
Rest in peace.

Robin Williams’ passing is a reminder that those who make us laugh the most are usually fighting the biggest demons.

Tattoo inquiry…any help?

Friends: I figure one of you is bound to know something about tattoos. So, here I am asking you all. Even after a crap ton of internet research, I’m having a really hard time estimating cost. I know that things very from shop to shop and artist to artist, but I’m not even getting a ballpark estimate that way.

I’m looking to do a design very similar in size and style to this:image

But using the dog on the far right of this photo as the model (my sweetheart Louie!):

Anyone have any clue what kind of insane amount that’ll set me back?
